As an new instructor who has only had the experience of teaching in an online platform, I see that this trend is only going to increase in the coming years. As post secondary education moves in the direction of online learning, we may see the face to face, brick and mortar format of learning begin to shift in the demand such as wait lists and academic competition to enter a program. Depending on the trends in education, will we see more students entering the post secondary stream as job markets predict the best paying employment? Will be these programs that then attract and increase of online learners for the flexibility and affordability of accessing education? No more than 20 years ago, accessing a post secondary education may have meant moving communities, finding new housing, establishing transportation to and from school and so on. Students with families and other commitments historically may not have been able to access education due to this barrier which now appears to be lifting in this current climate of technology and education.
